Starting next year, the unmanned aircraft will begin parachuting mail and medical supplies weighing up to 200 kilograms in such remote regions as Kamchatka and the Komi Republic.
"We are considering its use primarily in hard-to-reach regions, such as Kamchatka, the Komi Republic, the Sakha Republic, and Sverdlovsk Region... The T-400 "Orca" can also be used for the needs of the Russian Post, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and Gazprom subsidiaries to deliver cargo and equipment to the fields," said Elvira Nikiforova, Head of Development and Innovation at the developer company Aerocon.
The plane flies at 400 kilometers, and its maximum speed is 200 kilometers per hour. In addition to the classic cargo transportation, it can automatically drop the cargo by parachute and return to the take-off point.
"Take-off and landing can be carried out from unpaved runways with a length of 400 meters and a width of 25 meters," the press service added.
This year, the prototype of the drone will be shown at the International Military-Technical Forum "ARMY-2021", which will be held in August.
