Xiaopeng Motors has announced the Traveler X1 flying passenger drone
2021-05-12

The Chinese company Xiaopeng Motors, specializing in the production of electric vehicles, presented a manned drone Traveler X1 at the Shanghai Auto Show Auto Shanghai 2021. Traveler X1 is capable of reaching speeds of up to 120 km/h. The size of the new vehicle is comparable to the size of a compact city car.
Xiaopeng Motors, whose founders and investors include top managers from Xiaomi and Alibaba, and Xiaomi itself has been a strategic investor since 2019. It is actively working on the creation of self-driving cars and even received official permission from California regulators to test electric vehicles with full autopilot.
Xiaopeng Motors ' new line of business is the development of flying taxis operating in both manned and autonomous mode. The prototype of the Traveler X1, according to the developers, has already been tested in at least 10 thousand tests with various operating conditions and is almost ready to launch into mass production.
Today, the technical characteristics of the new Traveler X1 drone provide the possibility of flying at an altitude of up to 1 km, with a maximum speed of up to 120 km/h. At the same time, the onboard batteries provide an autonomous flight time of 18 to 25 minutes. This model is focused on delivering people to hard-to-reach places during rescue expeditions. It is also intended to use the Traveler X1 for sightseeing purposes.
