KONGSBERG Hugin 1000 completes world's longest multi-sensor AUV pipeline inspection
KONGSBERG has completed the world's longest multi-sensor AUV pipeline survey using one of its cutting-edge HUGIN 1000 Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV). The pipeline inspection took place February 9th - 11th 2011, in the Hjelte fjord near Bergen, Norway and the HUGIN 1000 was operated from the Royal Norwegian Navy vessel HNoMS Maloy.

Boeing announced the successful launch of the second Boeing-built X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV) for the US Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO). The OTV was launched on an Atlas V rocket into a low-Earth orbit today at 5:46 p.m.

On Jan. 21, Northrop Grumman Corporation, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and NASA Dryden Flight Research Center took a major step toward demonstrating autonomous aerial refueling between two unmanned, high altitude aircraft, an operation never before performed.
In a key risk reduction flight test, Northrop Grumman's Proteus test aircraft and a NASA Global Hawk flew as close as 40 feet apart at an altitude of 45,000 feet, an industry-setting record.

The technology demonstrator is based on an American Rutan Long-EZ airframe, and is powered by a 160hp Lycoming O-320 engine. The Rustom-1 prototype first took to the air at Hosur Airfield on 16 October 2010 during a 12 minute flight. By the end of February, a 30-minute flight with a mock payload is planned for the first time. ADE is using the Rustom-1 as a stepping stone to the creation of the much more sophisticated Rustom-H.
